Founded in 2004, New York-based SecondMarket (Member FINRA | MSRB | SIPC), is the largest centralized marketplace for illiquid assets, such as auction-rate securities, bankruptcy claims, collateralized debt obligations, mortgage-backed securities, limited partnership interests, private company stock, restricted securities and blocks in small capitalization companies and whole loans. Our 3,000 participants include global financial institutions, hedge funds, private equity firms, mutual funds, corporations and other institutional and accredited investors that collectively manage over $1 trillion in assets available for investment.
SENIOR JAVA ENGINEER
We currently have several opportunities available for highly motivated and talented software engineers to join our growing team in downtown Manhattan. We are leveraging the latest and most exciting technologies, and need the best and brightest people to help us create the most advanced financial systems in the world. Successful candidates will contribute to Agile feature designs, development and testing, as well as provide estimates, oversee iteration/sprint planning, and be responsible for the delivery of high quality software components.
In addition to producing high-quality code, you will serve as Technical Leads for small projects, and mentor/manage junior developers to follow and extend our engineering standards and processes.
Must have Requirements include:
• 5+ years or equivalent experience developing Spring/Hibernate and JMS components
• Strong messaging skills, (use of FIX or other financial XML Protocol an advantage)
Desired Requirements include:
• Experience building financial software (trading systems, middle-office, auction or marketplace applications)
• Working experience with Google Web Toolkit (GWT) – preferably Ext-GWT/GXT
• Proficient with Subversion and Maven
• Experience of working in an agile environment
• Database agnostic experience using postgresql or mysql
• Working experience with JIRA/Confluence
• Team player with positive attitude
